What are the myths?
One of the things against which we must fight more users of cannabis is against myths that exist in society about the substance that we choose to consume. There are myths of all types and affect all parts of society, doctors, workers, police officers, deputies, our mothers, ourselves, etc. But these beliefs do not arise from nothing but lies left to feed the prohibitionist way of seeing the issue of drugs and misinformation generated by them.
Some of these myths are :
- Marijuana kills brain cells.
- makes you lose memory.
- addictive.
- Impairs the immune system. Take
- other drugs. Take
- crime.
- makes you stupid.
- You lose the will.
The following video Dr. John P. Morgan, former professor of pharmacology at the University New York City talks a little about these and ends with an interesting conclusion:
Following this idea, if All these myths were true, would have more reason to regulate cannabis, and that the regulation would prevent the few risks that you, generated damage consumers. But this idea does not fit in the current view of the issue of drugs in all psychotropic drugs are bad and therefore must be eliminated consumption. This argument comes in the new vision that has much of the academic community.
The way to see and interpret things is what is called paradigm and this is what we mentioned in the previous article . The prohibitionist paradigm and misinformation generated a vicious circle in which:
- Disinformation scares people.
- pressure people support policies
- ban ban research and studies prevents
- The lack of research generates misinformation
- Return to step 1.
Now, it really is all a conspiracy? No, it's just a business for some, no conspiracy theories, but economic realities. The documentary shows how the cannabis Union conflicts with strong interests of the United States economy, a country that imposed the ban to the rest of the world since last century.
why we must break the vicious cycle of prohibition, it's time to forget the fear and start thinking about education policies that achieve that anyone who wants marijuana can do healthy and responsibly. Sources
